Challenger Elementary promotes a family atmosphere in every respect, from its welcoming front entrance to its experienced teachers, strong parent support, and innovative student-led programs.
A Title I school, Challenger has key initiatives to improve student performance in reading and math, with additional teachers and aides to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. Its Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program helps build positive learning attitudes. Academic achievement is fostered through Reaching Higher and student mentoring.
After school programs include:
> Kid’s Kare – Childcare before and after the school day. Kid’s Kare is also available during Professional Development days and during some school breaks.
> 4–H Program
Through “Everyday Heros,” students recognize “heros” in their school as well as the contributions of police, firefighters, and active military. Students give back to the community with service projects that support the Make-A-Wish Foundation and address hunger, heart disease, and veterans’ needs.
