Challenger Families,
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. It is easy to dismiss these events during our busy lives, but I hope you take a moment or two to celebrate our amazing staff at Challenger. I will admit that I am a little biased, but I truly believe we have some of the most amazing educators you will find.
I could fill up 50 newsletters with the amazing things I see our staff do. Our staff does an amazing job with the typical "teacher" tasks. On a daily basis, our teachers work hard to create and deliver effective lessons, be attentive to student needs, and balance all of the daily chores in the classroom. This is truly just the tip of the iceberg of what our great staff does for the students at Challenger Elementary.
Teachers work tirelessly to support the whole child. They build relationships and truly care about each child that walks through Challenger's doors. Teachers are constantly doing the little things that never get celebrated. They are sensitive to the child's needs when their dog passes away, they purchase items for students when they know that money may be tight at home, they give those hugs just at the right time, they use student interests to connect a challenging lesson for a child, they spend days creating a life size "Chutes and Ladders" game for student to enjoy, and many more. As I said, I could go on and on about our amazing staff.
I am proud to lead such a great group of teachers and caring adults. So on the weekend prior to "Teacher Appreciation Week" please join me in celebrating our amazing teachers. Something as simple as sending an email that says, thank you, will brighten the day for our staff. Something as small as this can lift up our staff during these last 18 days of the school year. Thank you parents for partnering and supporting the work our teachers do in the classroom each day.
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Cherry
