Challenger Chronicle 2-28-2020

Dear Challenger Families-

As we await the PTO "Penguin Party" tonight at 6:00, I just wanted to take a moment and thank our fantastic PTO.  We have a great PTO that works hard to support students, staff, and families.  The PTO leads our fundraisers, popcorn Fridays, spirit wear sales, monthly PTO meetings, Rollerama nights, and much, much more.  These great parents give of their time and talents to make Challenger a great place to work and learn.

The next board meeting is on March 19th at 6:00pm in the Challenger Media Center.  At these meetings, we discuss current, past, and future events that are being planned.  A large part of these meetings is also spent discussing how to best use the funds that have been raised by our generous Challenger family.  The PTO is working hard to use these funds responsibly.  We are committed to providing our staff and students memorable events and purchasing items that create a great learning experience.  I do hope that you will attend our upcoming meetings to help share your input and look towards ending the 2019-20 school year with some fun events for our Challenger students.

MOBILE DENTIST COMING ON TUESDAY, APRIL 20th

Health and wellness are central to success at school, and this includes taking care of our children’s teeth. The Mobile Dentist will be visiting and servicing our school on April 20! Your child will be bringing home the Mobile Dentist permission slip - if dental services are desired, please fill out the form and have your child return it to school as soon as possible. Additional information can be found at https://www.mobiledentists.com/ If you need another permission slip, let your teacher know and we will send one home with your student!

PLEASE HELP! MENTOR LIVINGSTON NEEDS MENTORS FOR OUR STUDENTS

Imagine what the world would look like if every child had a caring adult that listened to them, nurtured their self-esteem, and showed them the possibilities of the world. Mentor Livingston, formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters, is currently recruiting caring volunteers who are willing to mentor (and share lunch with) an elementary student twice a month. We currently have a long list of “littles” in our district waiting and hoping to be matched with a “big.” If you know of anyone (parents, friends) who could provide this opportunity for a Howell elementary student, please reach out to Alyson Mapes at [email protected] or 517-546-1140.
