4/9/18 - Thought to be an underdog by some, Challenger Elementary conquered schools big and small to win the 2018 Buffalo Wild Wings Spirit Bracket Challenge. Challenger was one of 58 schools in metro-Detroit to participate in the fundraising event hosted by the Detroit area Buffalo Wild Wings co-op.

In the challenge, each competing school hosted a fundraiser day at their local restaurant, with the top performing schools advancing to the next round. Each school earned 20% of the proceeds on their fundraiser day, with the top performers earning a chance at another fundraiser day and the opportunity to raise more money. Over the course of the challenge, Challenger earned $5,138. As the winning school, Buffalo Wild Wings donated an additional $2,500 grand prize, bringing the total donation to more than $7,600.

"Participating in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bracket Challenge has been an amazing experience. I am so thankful for the support shown by our school community and all of Howell as we competed in each round of the challenge,” said David Cherry, Challenger Elementary principal.

“We were thrilled to see Challenger win this competition,” said Kevin Cook, Buffalo Wild Wings marketing manager. “The amount of support they received from their community was incredible.”

The Challenger Parent Teacher Organization will be working with students, staff members and families to determine the best use of the money earned from the
