2018-2019 Suggested Supply List

  • backpack WITHOUT wheels (they do not fit in lockers)
  • 3 packages of wet wipes ~ refill packs work too
  • Ziploc Bags ~ 1 box, gallon, freezer
  • 1 box of Kleenex

*Howell Public Schools will provide crayons, colored pencils, markers, pencils, glue, and scissors.

As of August 2018, we have 26 kids in our classroom!

Special’s Schedule:

Your child will need tennis shoes on P.E. days and Wacky Wednesday. For your child's safety, if they do not have tennis shoes they WILL NOT be able to participate.

 

Lunch and Recess Schedule: 11:30-12:15 p.m. (recess is 11:30-11:50 pm, lunch is 11:55-12:15 pm.)

 

Birthdays: Every child loves to celebrate birthdays. Please send a note/email informing me if you will be sending in a treat to share with your student's class only. Please remember to send in any supplies needed like plates, napkins, cups, forks or spoons.

 

Book Orders: Every month or so, I will be sending home Scholastic Book Orders.  This is a wonderful way to encourage and foster a love for reading.  The prices are often times lower than retail stores.  If you choose to make an order, please send a check or money order made out to Scholastic for the full amount on or before the return date. Snack: Each day we will have 2 snack times, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

We are using the "bring your own snack" method this year. What does this mean? You will will be responsible for sending in snacks for your child every day, one for the morning & one for the afternoon. Some ideas include fruit, veggies, cheese sticks, graham crackers, nuts, pretzels, fresh cheese/crackers, etc. Please do not send in items such as cookies, brownies, Little Debbie's, candy, greasy chips, Gatorade, juice, etc.

 

Purple Everyday Folders: Every day your child will bring home a Purple Communication Folder. One side of the folder is "Keep at Home" and the other side is "Return to School." Please check this folder at home every day and return it to school the following day.

 

Classroom  Information will be sent home throughout the week.  The office usually sends home information on Thursday.

 

Homework: Reading at home should be a daily activity. Please read to your child every night. Discuss the story with your child...characters, settings, & events. In a few weeks, your child will start bringing home books from our Take Home Book Library. More information will come home when this begins.

 

Poem Book: Your child will be illustrating and recording poems.  These poems will be kept in their poem book so that they can read, read, and then read them some more.  At the end of the year, this book will be sent home.

 

Parent Involvement: I welcome and encourage parents/guardians into my classroom.  There will be more information about volunteering at Open House. Everyone is welcome as long as we have a Criminal History Form completed and clear on file in our school office. These forms are good for 1 year. Parent volunteers usually begin in October. Update ~ Parent Volunteer Sign Up was sent via email.  If you did not get it and want to volunteer please contact me.

 

Communication: Communication is the key to keep us all living in harmony!!! I cannot express the importance of keeping the lines of communication open and frequent. If your child is having a difficult time at home or in school, please let me know.  If I know about issues, then I can help support your child. The best way to reach me is via email at devinem@howellschools.com  I will respond to all emails as soon as I can, often times, during my lunch or after school. I also enjoy sending positive messages via email, phone, and written notes.
